The First Few Days...

(It's so good that I know how to add pictures now. Thank-you so much Jennifer!) (1) The view from our apt window. We're up five stories and the mountains are very beautiful. (2) Cacak's football team, Angel Warriors; we got to watch them play Sunday afternoon. (3) Just a horse and buggy that I saw on the way to the English Club yesterday morning. (4) Visit at Dragana's house ~ Dragana, Mirela, Dragana's mother, and me. (5) Becky and the girls in the dance class.
I'm so glad that I'll be able to share pictures with y'all now. Please be sure to check out Tim and Jennifer's blog, too. They've been here since October 2006.

First of all, I would like to ask especially for your prayers right now. Last night and today's been a spiritual struggle along with adjusting/fitting in with their social culture. This week we've had "orientation" each morning at the English Club, just telling us about each part of the team (sports, English Club, servanthood). Monday everybody gave their testimonies about how they came to Serbia. It was really awesome to see how God works in each other lives and led us all to the same place to serve Him. Shelly and I have been working on preparing lessons for English Club every afternoon. Next week will be the start of the summer classes and I'll start off teaching beginners all by myself, so yet again another prayer request. I'm a little nervous, because they'll be adults as well. Tuesday, we had Serbian lesson with Mirela and no I haven't quiet got any of it down yet. Yesterday, was our first "full" day. We were busy. After orientation, Karl, Jacob and Damian cut grass while me and Shelly picked up the grass. It was at our apt building, and we had a good time getting to know our landlord and his son, Marco. Dragana invited Becky, Jennifer, Shelly and me over to her house yesterday afternoon- Samantha even came too. Dragana's family is so sweet and reminded me a lot of home with all her family around. When we left Dragana's, Becky took us to a friend of hers dance studio and we were able to watch the girls practice for the performance on Saturday. Then we went to Mirela's and spent the rest of our night there, before heading back to our apt. Mirela wants us to feel at home when we're at her house and is just so friendly too. Today we past out fliers for the English Club in the Center and that's about all.
It takes awhile for me to type all this and I never have a lot of extra time, so I'll have more stories to share when I get home than I could ever post here. Just look forward to them- God is definately at work here in Cacak!
I love y'all and miss you too!!
Tori

Hey Sweetheart
The photos are great. I am glad you found out how to post them. You have people praying for you all over the nation. I was in Texas this week and someone asked about your trip, they had heard from someone else. By your willingness to go where God called I was able to share a little about what God has done in your and our family's life. I am certian we will never know the full impact of your ministry in this mission. One thing for sure God has asked you to step out of your comfort zone. Just remember it is when we can't do things in our own power that God performs his greatest works. It takes little faith to do something we know we can already do well. You are in my prayers, continue to let God lead, just walk in his foot steps. It is times like these, when I can't hold you and comfort you, I praise God that he always has you in his loving arms and will never leave you. With your care for others and your fun loving personality I am certian your English classes will go well. Keep your head up, speak out and watch God work. He will provide the confidence you need.

I love you
Daddy

Hey Tori We just wanted you to know that we were thinking about you and are praying for you each day. I have enjoyed reading everything that you have shared and looking at the pictures. I know God is going to use you in a special way. I think you will be a great teacher of any age. I hope your finger is healing. That must really be an inconvience. But, God will find a way to use that to share Him with others. God Bless You!!! Phil & Pam

Hi Tori,

I know you don't know me, but I'm Tim's brother. Jennifer passed along a link to your blog and I really enjoyed reading about the days leading up to your trip and your short time there so far.

I'm sure you'll have fun and touch lots of people. I'll bet your injury opens doors for you (though not literally, as that could hurt, I suppose).

It's been amazing to me how quickly Tim, Jennifer, Caleb, and Samantha have adapted to the differences there. Have a great summer and try to beat Caleb at some Nintendo.

Her name is Brooklyn Kelly and everyone is doing great. I will have pics to show you when you get back. Tori,

I am so excited about what God is doing. I am so proud of you for you willingness to listen to God and take that step of Faith to do what God has asked you to do. You are an inspiration to all who see you and you are definitely a reflection of God our Father. I know Sunday is Fathers day and you may have never been away from you earthly Father; but, what a comfort to you and your parents to know that your heavenly Father has you wrapped in his loving arms. You are such an inspiration to me to watch how at such a young age you are going about your Fathers work. I Love you and I am praying for you daily. Some of the girls have written you letters and sealed them in envelopes for me to mail to you. I keep forgetting to get you address from you mom. I will see her tonight and get you address and get them in the mail.

I have printed your Blog for those at church who do not have email.

I Love YOU and I am praying for YOU!

Hello Tori
It has been a long day here, lots of stuff going on at work. Witt and I have just about gotten his truck back together, it is almost ready to paint. How is the english classes going? good I hope. I keep forgetting to ask you about your grocery shopping. Do you have grocery stores similar to ours or how are they different. You mentioned eating lots of fruit, What kinds? anything we don't have back home? Also if you have time we would like to see some photos of your team mates [put some faces with the names]. Cynthia mentioned that your finger was not bending well yet, keep exercising it, it had a pretty hard lick I'm sure the joint is still swollen. You were remembered in prayer at church tonight, lots of people asking about you and praying for you. Also I don't know if Cynthia told you, Brother Lynn announced Sunday night that he had accepted a call from another church, he will be leaving MCBC in a few weeks. We will sorely miss Lynn, Judy and the girls. Keep us and them in your prayers. Well I'm going to bed, it is getting late here and Witt wants to check his email. [I just beat him in a game of pool, I can sleep good now.]

You are in my thoughts and prayers
I love you
Daddy
